Headed out to Venice via bike!

In Austria, Biking, Germany, Italy, Travel, Update by Cassie & Cédric5 Comments

Now motivated by the Olympics in Rio, Cédric and I (and a few other friends – Bob, Marssie & Mike) are leaving Augsburg tomorrow and biking to Venice.

The plan is a 600km (370 mile) trip, which should hopefully only take 7 days to complete. Our days will be spent crossing the Alps , including three mountain passes, with our bikes and luggage and then biking through the northern Italian countryside. Our route is an ancient Roman road, the Via Claudia Augusta, which is traversed by many cyclists each year.

When all goes as planned, this is our route:

Day 1: Augsburg -> Füssen, Germany

Day 2: Füssen -> Imst, Austria

Day 3: Imst -> Rechen / Reszia, Italy

Day 4: Reschen -> Bozen / Bolzano, Italy

Day 5: Bozen -> Borgo Valsugana

Day 6: Borgo -> Montebelluna

Day 7: Montebelluna -> Venice

Day 8: Sightseeing and lobster risotto

We’ll probably write a post next week detailing our trip.

Cheers,

Cassie & Cédric

      From experience, no problem at all!
      Plus, sleeping on the side (and not cleaning the camp ground) – air mattresses usually mean sleeping on the ground at 2am…
